Bio

Hello, I'm Shannon Amey, a professional artist and mentor with a passion for nurturing creativity. My journey in the art world began with formal training at OCAD (Ontario College of Art & Design University) in Toronto, and I expanded my horizons by earning a leadership degree, and a teaching degree from the University of New Brunswick as well as a graduate degree in Creativity from the University of Calgary.

Creating art is where I truly feel at home. It's a profound experience that connects me to my most authentic self, blending energy and tranquillity. The canvas becomes a portal to my inner world, where boundaries disappear, and creativity flows freely.

Travel has always been a significant influence on my artistic journey. Meeting diverse people and experiencing different places has a profound impact on my work. I translate these memories into abstract expressions, infusing each piece with the essence of my adventures.

As a child, I was always the "art kid," and I knew from an early age that a creative life was my destiny. The path to becoming a full-time artist took me on a winding road, but I'm grateful every day for having found my place in this magnificent creative life.

I'm passionate about making art every day, and I find immense joy in mentoring other artists on their creative journeys. My experience as an art teacher ignited a deep-seated desire to work with aspiring artists. Transitioning into a full-time artist has been simultaneously thrilling, nerve-wracking, and incredibly fulfilling. I consider myself fortunate to live this creative life, where I not only create art but also have the privilege of guiding and supporting other artists on their unique journeys. It's a remarkable journey, and I'm excited to see where it leads next.
