Bio

Professional Artist · Intuitive Art Educator · Creative Mentor

Welcome to my world of art—where creativity, embodiment, and emotional truth meet. I’m Shannon Amey, a full-time professional artist and mentor whose work explores identity, belonging, and the human condition. My paintings and programs are designed not just to be seen, but felt—inviting viewers and participants into deeper self-awareness and personal connection. I am deeply committed to creating work that resonates on a universal and emotional level.

A Practice Rooted in Expression & Transformation

My studio practice and teaching are grounded in a belief that art is a powerful tool for healing, reflection, and transformation. Whether I'm creating a canvas or leading a workshop, my work is centered on the inner landscape—translating emotion, memory, and intuition into visual form.

I hold a Fine Arts degree from OCAD University in Toronto, with additional academic training and degrees in Experiential Leadership, Art Education, and a Graduate Degree in Creativity & Spirituality. This unique blend of disciplines allows me to weave together strategic thinking, embodied practice, and soulful artistry—whether I’m mentoring artists or guiding intuitive painting sessions.

Intuitive Art & Embodied Creativity

As an extension of my visual art practice, I facilitate intuitive art workshops and retreats that combine mindfulness, breathwork, movement, and creative expression. These sessions are not about technique or traditional skill—they are invitations into presence, self-trust, and expressive freedom. Rooted in the same somatic awareness that underpins yoga and meditation, these offerings support emotional release, nervous system regulation, and authentic connection to self.

Whether co-creating or leading in my own space, my approach emphasizes process over perfection, embodiment over outcome, and creativity as a spiritual practice.

My Studio in Denmark

I work from a light-filled studio in a beautifully converted 100-year-old factory in Aalborg, Denmark. I’m part of a vibrant artist collective of 10 professional artists who collaborate on exhibitions, open studios, and cultural events throughout Northern Denmark. This space is a hub for both my studio work and the intimate workshops I lead—and its raw charm reflects the layered, evolving nature of the creative process itself

Where I Work

I primarily work out of my full-time studio in Aalborg, Denmark. This studio is where most of my creative work happens—it's a hub for both solitude and collaboration.

In addition, I also maintain a part-time studio in Northern Germany, just outside of Hamburg. My family has strong ties to the region, and although we are not currently living there full-time, we spend time there regularly with family. I’m actively building relationships in the German art scene and am seeking gallery representation in Hamburg to expand my collector base and deepen my presence there.

In My Work

My current body of work delves into deeply personal yet universally relatable themes, such as:

  • Identity, Belonging, and Displacement: Exploring the concept of carrying one’s culture and heritage while living abroad.

  • Family, Distance, and Connection: Visualizing the emotional ties that keep families united across distances.

  • The Human Condition and Longing for Home: Juxtaposing physical and emotional landscapes of home, migration, and fulfillment.

These themes are expressed through limited editions, curated collections, and bespoke commissions, creating pieces that are as exclusive as they are evocative.

My Studio Practice

Art is where I find my most authentic self—a place where energy and tranquility converge. My work is shaped by my experiences as a Canadian with Irish citizenship, now living in Denmark after a year of travel and four years in Finland. Raising my children, who were born in Finland and share roots with both their German parent and me, adds layers of depth and nuance to my perspective. This rich tapestry of cultures and experiences informs every brushstroke, every layer, and every decision I make on the canvas.

Mentorship & Artistic Community

Mentorship is a vital part of my creative life. I lead group and one-on-one programs for artists who want to grow their practice, expand their visibility, and reconnect with their creative voice. I believe in cultivating a community that is both strategic and soulful—where real growth happens through accountability, inspiration, and deep personal alignment.

For Collectors

My art speaks to those who seek meaningful, timeless pieces to enrich their lives and spaces. As a serious, professional artist with a significant career, I create work that fills a void, sparks connection, and elevates the environments it inhabits.

From large-scale commissions to exclusive collections, my pieces are designed to bring beauty, depth, and resonance to your home.

Let’s create something extraordinary together.
